Whole lot of shakin’ goin’ on
So, in mid-April an Iranian cleric declared that earthquakes happen because of women who wear revealing clothing and behave promiscuously. Keep in mind, wearing revealing clothing in the Islamic Republic means a woman is wearing something that does not cover her from head to toe. Since the declaration was made, a group of women have been using Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and other social media sites to protest.
“Boob Quake”, as it has been dubbed, is the brainchild of a 22-year-old Purdue University student, Jen McCreight. McCreight organized a protest aimed at proving the invalidity of the statement, and had garnered the support of thousands of people within 24 hours of posting to her blog, Facebook and Twitter.
Boob Quake day occurred on Monday, April 26, 2010. There were, indeed, earthquakes that day; but participants claim since there was no increase in the number of earthquakes, the cleric’s declaration was proven false.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, there were earthquakes, lots in fact. There was a 6.5 magnitude earthquake in Taiwan, several over 3.0 in Mexico and Alaska and dozens of smaller ones all over the globe. So, what to make of this experiment? Perhaps, the provocative dress wearing affects areas other than the ones in which the women appear…women dress scantily in Indiana and Taiwan pays for it. You know, this could be the missing link in world domination. Who needs military might? We can all just follow Belgium’s lead and ban the burka.

I’m so dumbfounded that I don’t know what to say. Maybe someone should flip the illogical statement and tell that cleric that too much clothing on that side of the world caused a slip in the techtonic plates.

Too funny not to be true! I wonder how many people actually believed that. If that were true, the United States wouldn’t be here especially on the coasts and beach areas. There would be no beaches left by now with the tiny things women wear. And there wouldn’t be any Survivor on TV. They would have been decimated by now. This is where Facebook and other social media outlets are invaluable.

[...] Whole lot of shakin’ goin’ on According to modernsurvivalblog.com (I let them do the computations since I don’t like math), “Earthquakes between magnitude 5.0 and 6.9 are still up and occurring 33 percent more frequently than average statistics so far during 2010 (133% of normal). Earthquakes between magnitude 5.0 and 9.9 are occurring 25 percent more frequently than average statistics so far during 2010 (125% of normal). [...]
